Automatic transfer switch (ATS) panels shift loads to a generator or standby source during a grid outage without human intervention. In operations that cannot tolerate an interruption — healthcare facilities, data centers, cold chains, or continuous production — the reliability of the transfer system means business continuity itself. A badly structured transfer scenario can leave the facility in the dark even when the generator is sound.

Miratek designs the transfer panel together with load prioritization and generator capacity; which loads are backed up and which are shed is settled at the design stage. Electrical and mechanical interlocking prevents the two sources from clashing at the hardware level. At commissioning, real outage scenarios are tested and the system is handed over in working order.

How quickly does the transfer happen when the mains fails?

The time depends largely on how quickly the generator starts and accepts the load; the transfer panel completes the changeover within seconds once the source is ready. For loads that tolerate no interruption at all, an ATS alone is not enough — it must be paired with a UPS. The design makes this distinction load by load.

Can an ATS panel be added to our existing generator?

It can, provided the generator supports remote start control; the generator control panel is examined during the survey. If there is an incompatibility, the necessary control module revision is brought into scope. The panel is connected to the existing distribution system during a planned outage.

Does maintaining the transfer panel halt production?

A manually controlled bypass arrangement can be added to the panel so that the load remains supplied during maintenance or a fault. This scheme provides energy continuity during maintenance, particularly in operations that run without interruption. The need is evaluated together at the survey stage.
